With the detection of the new corona virus variant Omicron and its rapid spread around the world, countries took new measures. Japan increased its limitations and became the second country after Israel to close its borders to foreigners. Non-Japanese citizens will be no longer to enter the country until a further notice.
Borders got closed!

Japan Primeminister Fumio Kishida has publicly announced that foreigners will be banned from entering the country starting from November 30. Prime Minister Kishida Fumio stated at the press conference that it was decided to close the borders of Japan for an indefinite period in order to prevent the spread of the new Covid-19 variant, Omicron.
Prime Minister Kishida stated that they will act with “crisis level of sensitivity” against possible increases in the number of cases against the rapid increase in Covid-19 cases in the country.
Prime Minister Kishida said,“We are experiencing a ‘strong sense of crisis’ for the Omicron variant. We will continue to expand the border measures as there may be a global expansion movement.” in his public announcement.
Kyodo agency reported that the facilitation of process of entering the country will again get more strict and the process of business people, students and technical trainees entering the country will be suspended for an unknown period.
Against the “Omicron” variant of Covid-19, which was first detected and recorded in South Africa, the Government of Japan has announced that “the strict border policies” will apply to people arriving from Mozambique, Malawi and Zambia or who have been in these countries in the last three months.
Passengers arriving to Japan will be quarantined for 10 days in designated quarantine hotels and will be asked to give PCR tests on the 3rd, 6th and 10th days of this period.
People who have recently traveled to Botswana, Esvatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe, where Covid-19 Omicron variant cases are high, will be kept under strict scrutiny and surveillance.
Israel also closed the borders
Israel was the first country that closed its borders due to the Omicron variant, announcing that the borders of Israel will be closed to all foreigners a few weeks prior to Japan.
Israel ranks first in the world with 5.78 million of vaccinated people with double doses and Israel has the highest percentage of vaccinated people in the world with a double dose rate of 62.7%.
Vaccinated Israeli citizens who come from abroad and want to enter their country will have to take a PCR test and then be quarantined at home for 15 days, if the PCR test that will be given on the third day is negative, they will be able to terminate their quarantine. Israek citizens who have not been vaccinated will remain in quarantine for one week if they agree to be tested at the end of the week ,if they do not agree they will have to get quaranted for 14 days.
